About Safety Lights
When people think about it, having lights on hand makes good sense. For
example, people usually think to bring lights when they go out camping, because
it makes sense that a campfire isn't going to travel well. So it may seem
obvious that keeping extra lights aside for emergencies, or when you need to
find your way in the dark, but most people forget about them until they need
them. This applies to anything from being in a home or business when the lights
go out, on when driving to a destination and finding you are in need of
assistance, or perhaps being somewhere where it gets dark and you didn't think
it would difficult to see. There are the traditional ways to keep lights available
when you need them, and then some good innovations and alternatives as
well.
No Battery Flashlight
There are some types of lights that are available now that go well beyond the
standard battery filled hand held flashlight that you might keep in the glove
compartment of trunk of your car.
Sometimes referred to as shake flashlights, these are light sources that
don't require batteries at all which is great news for anyone who wants to have
a light on hand but may not need it for an extended period of time. Everyone at
some time or another has put a portable light in storage and at some point down
the line found themselves in a darkened house or place or business only to reach
for the light they saved for just that occasion to find it won't work. The shake
flashlight works off of magnetic energy and never requires batteries. Imagine
taking it out of wherever you've been keeping it, shaking it for as little as 90
seconds and getting up to 20 minutes of light that shines as brightly as an
L.E.D. (light emitting diode) light.
LED Lights
Light emitting diode lights are well known to be very bright and to last a
long time. There are lights made very small and end up being quite convenient to
carry on a keychain. They last for up to 10,000 (that's right 10,000) hours and
enable you to see a comfortable distance. You can squeeze the side to activate
it or flip the small switch to a "steady on" mode. They are quite
inexpensive and come in several different light colors. They of course have the
obvious advantage of being so small you can have one with you at all times
without thinking about it- until you need it.
Flashing Safety Lights
A safety flashing light can make a huge difference if you become stranded
somewhere or if you get injured and are unable to call for help. They are meant
to be really bright and draw attention to yourself. They come in different sizes
- from an emergency flashing triangle for a car truck to a smaller rectangular
bulb size for use on your auto, person, bicycle or motorcycle. They are designed
to be seen from a long distance away- in some cases up to almost 1/2 mile.
